The Heart of any highthrouput screening opperation is the liquidhander, The CGSC is equiped with a Caliper/Zymark SciClone ALH3000 auotmated liquid handler.

The SciClone is equiped with a High volume head to prepare 96 well plates with transfer volumes from 1µl* to 200µl. The High Volume head can make use of disposable tips in
50µl50µl Filterd
100µl80µl Filterd
200µl180µl Filterd

To the left of the main array the Sciclone equiped with an 8 channel independent pipeteing system for use in Hit-Picking and inserting controls on assay plates. The Z-8 is designed for use with 80µl Filter or 100µl un-filtered tips, and can cleanly transfer between 1µl and 98µl.

Also to mounted on the left of the main array are two bulk reagent despensers, Each one can despense up to 2500µl in to as many as 8 channels, Or fill a 96well plate with up to 200µl per well.

Alternativaly the SciClone's Main array may be swaped from the 96 Channel High Volumne Head to a high Percicion Low-volume Head. The Low Volume head can despense from less than 0.5µl to 25µl, in either 96 or 384 well formats. Both the 96 and 384 Arrays make use of high percicsion disposable tips.

The SciClone is equiped with a 96 well tipwashing station, and tips may be washed and reused for many opperations. Addtionaly tips may be ejected and reloaded many times with out conciderable shifts in performance.

* High Volume Head Transfers may be accompleshed down to 0.5µl with good reliablity under some conditions, However opperations at less then 1µl are better suited to the Low Volume Head.
